The GCC Trademark Law was approved by Royal Decree No. (M/51) dated 26/7/1435 AH, adopting the version approved by the GCC Supreme Council at its 33rd session held in Bahrain on 11-12 Safar 1434 AH. It replaced the prior GCC Trademark Law approved by Royal Decree No. (M/94) dated 23/11/1428 AH, to be applied within six months of the Trade Cooperation Committee's approval of its implementing regulation, published within thirty days of that approval, and effective ninety days after publication. Royal Decree No. (M/49) dated 1442/6/1 AH later amended the Law's definitions of "competent authority" and "Minister."
