Commercial Names Law and Its Implementing Regulation

The Commercial Names Law was approved by Royal Decree No. (M/83) dated 1446/3/19 AH, based on Council of Ministers Decision No. (237) dated 1446/3/14 AH, replacing the prior Commercial Names Law issued by Royal Decree No. (M/15) dated 12/8/1420 AH. It covers general provisions, rules on reserving and registering commercial names, cancellation and striking-off, and violations, and takes effect 180 days after publication in the Official Gazette. The same decree also approved the Commercial Register Law and granted those registered in the commercial register a five-year grace period from the effective date to correct their subsidiary commercial registrations, after which unrectified subsidiary registrations are struck off under a mechanism set by the Ministry of Commerce.
