Saudi Red Sea Authority Highlights Maritime Sustainability Activities at SMIC

The Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) participated in the Sustainable Maritime Industry Conference (SMIC), organized by the Transport General Authority in Jeddah from 4 to 6 September 2023 under the theme "Innovation for a Greener Future". SRSA Acting CEO Mohammed Al Asiri said the authority focuses on protecting the Red Sea's natural environment, including reducing carbon emissions from tourism navigational activities, through partnerships with maritime entities, issuing new regulations, and supporting investments. He added that SRSA has recently issued the Kingdom's first regulations enabling marine tourism and recreational activities that provide environmental protection, and that SRSA has cooperated with international entities including IMO member states, the Monaco Yacht Club, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
