On 15 May 2024, the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) announced it had issued its first three licenses to operators of tourist marinas: Al-Ahlam Marina in Jeddah and Jazan, and Red Sea Marina in Jeddah. The step aims to establish operational and technical procedures for marinas, improve the quality of services provided to tourists, preserve the marine environment and promote sustainability, and regulate the marine watercraft operating model. SRSA conducted field visits to marinas in Jeddah, Jazan, Al Laith, and Yanbu to provide technical, administrative, and consultative support for granting the licenses and to verify compliance with international standards.
