Saudi Red Sea Authority Issues First Regulation for Saudi Yachts

In August 2024, the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA) issued Saudi Arabia's first regulation for Saudi yachts, covering conditions and procedures for issuing technical (leisure tourism) licenses and tourism chartering licenses, which require a licensed maritime tourism agent or yacht management company and a signed contract with the charterer. The regulation also sets requirements for tourism trip permits, including passenger lists, sailing destinations, and chartering contracts, and for water-toy activities such as recreational fishing and diving, requiring usage guides, response plans, and life jackets. It further addresses the rights of people with disabilities, minimizing plastic use, preventing pollution, and adherence to safe navigation guidelines. The regulation's issuance coincided with the launch of SRSA's "More Than a Sea" awareness campaign.
