Saudi Arabia ranked ninth globally in the Audit and Accounting Practices Index in the IMD World Competitiveness Center's 2026 World Competitiveness Yearbook, per the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA), rising 33 places over 10 years from 42nd to 9th. The advance reflects over 300 reforms (128 substantive, 86 consequential, 71 procedural, 16 legislative) and adoption of 128 international professional standards, making Saudi Arabia the only Middle East country to fully adopt all international professional standards. Professional licenses issued rose 126%, professional certificate holders rose 235%, trainees rose 309%, and inspection/oversight activities rose 132%.
