The Authority Participates in the Semi-Annual Periodic Meeting of the G20 Emerging Economies Group

SOCPA, represented by its Accounting Standards Board through Executive Director of Professional Standards Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Razeen, participated in the semi-annual meeting of the G20 Emerging Economies Group under the International Accounting Standards Board, held by videoconference during 7-8 May 2025. Participants discussed developments and projects of international standards, including planning for the fourth phase of the consultation on the international board's future agenda, a possible reporting basis for entities ceasing to be going concerns, and the new version of the IFRS for SMEs standard, applicable from the start of 2027. SOCPA's representative also noted the board's acceptance of the Authority's view on accounting for end-of-service benefits, and discussion touched on presentation and disclosure of financial instruments with equity characteristics, including Islamic finance instruments classified as liabilities under IAS 32.
