Auditor Independence Considerations When Auditing Financial Statements of Investment Funds and Retirement Pensions

No action neededAwareness

The International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) published a consultation paper seeking public views on auditor independence considerations when auditing financial statements of investment funds and retirement pension funds, noting that such funds' activities are typically carried out by connected parties (e.g., fund managers, trustees, advisors) rather than employees, and that the current code lacks sufficient explicit guidance covering these relationships. The Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA), represented by its Professional Conduct and Ethics Committee, expressed in-principle support for the paper's rationale and the need for additional guidance, and raised certain issues for the IESBA to consider when developing it.
