The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) issued the Implementing Regulations for the Law of Payments and Payment Services, setting the regulatory and supervisory frameworks for SAMA's role in protecting the financial sector, including provisions on providing payment services, obligations of all parties in payment operations, and the classification of important payment systems and settlement finality. The Regulations entered into force from their date of issuance and replace the regulatory rules for payment service providers; a draft had previously been published for public consultation before being finalized.
