SAMA Issues Rules Governing Calculation of Annual Percentage Rate (APR)

The Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) issued Rules Governing Calculation of the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), aimed at developing disclosure practices for individual customers on financing products and unifying the rate calculation method across the financing sector. The rules cover the calculation method, items to be included in the cost of financing, and requirements for applying, reviewing, and periodically updating the APR calculator. The rules take effect 90 days after their publication date on SAMA's website; a draft was previously issued for public and specialist consultation before finalization.
