Restricting Rent Payment for Residential Contracts Through Digital Channels Starting 15 January

The Real Estate General Authority (REGA) announced that rent payments for residential lease contracts will be gradually restricted to digital channels via the 'Ejar' platform starting 15 January 2024. After that date, payments outside Ejar's designated channels (Mada and SADAD using invoice number 153) will not be recognized as valid proof of payment for new residential contracts; commercial leases are not affected. From the same date, Ejar will gradually stop issuing electronic receipt vouchers for new residential contracts, with payments automatically settled per Cabinet Resolution No. 131, and deposited into the lessor's registered bank account within five business days.
