"WAFI" Licenses More Than 100,000 Real Estate Units for Off-Plan Sale During 2023

The Off-Plan Sale and Lease Committee ("WAFI") announced that 101,942 real estate units were made available for off-plan sale in 2023 through 434 issued licenses, spanning residential, industrial, commercial, service, tourism and other project types. Secretary-General Naif bin Nawaf Al-Sharif reported a 63% growth in licenses for small and medium projects (3,273 new units) and a 650% increase in completed projects (3,640 residential units across 42 projects) versus 2022. During 2023, WAFI issued 350 developer licenses and 35 display licenses for over 42,180 units under construction, and conducted 1,130 field supervisory visits (up over 28%), including 475 engineering visits, while training 1,167 individuals through 68 courses.
