The Public Prosecutor approves the classification of methamphetamine among serious crimes warranting detention

Public Prosecutor Sheikh Saud bin Abdullah Al-Mu'jab approved classifying all criminal offenses related to methamphetamine (shabu) as serious crimes warranting detention, citing its serious harm to public health and security. Decision No. 110 dated 1/9/1446 AH added paragraph 26 to Decision No. 1 dated 1/1/1442 AH, covering use, possession, smuggling, importation, receipt, purchase, or transport intended for personal use, plus attempted manufacture of shabu. The decision is issued under Article 112 of the Law of Criminal Procedure as amended by Royal Decree No. M/125 dated 14/9/1441 AH, which authorizes the Public Prosecutor, after coordination with the Ministry of Interior and Presidency of State Security, to determine which crimes warrant detention.
