"Commerce" Invites Interested Parties to Submit Their Views on the Draft Implementing Regulation for the Precious Metals and Gemstones System

The Ministry of Commerce has published a draft Implementing Regulation for the Precious Metals and Gemstones System for public consultation via the National Competitiveness Center's 'Istitlaa' platform, open until 4 September 2025. The draft aims to align with amendments to the Precious Metals and Gemstones System by setting regulatory provisions for the trade and manufacture of precious metals, gemstones, and related items, along with oversight controls. Key provisions prohibit engaging in manufacturing or sales activities without the required licence or prior notification to the Ministry of Commerce, mandate hallmarking of items offered for sale with the Kingdom's assay mark or a registered trademark, and require advertisements to include precise details on weight, type, and purity standards.
