The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Affirms the Importance of Reducing Overgrazing to Protect Vegetation Cover and Enhance the Sustainability of Natural Resources in the Kingdom

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture affirmed the importance of reducing overgrazing to protect vegetation cover and enhance the sustainability of natural resources, as part of the second edition of its "Shitana Sah" awareness campaign encouraging responsible practices during winter outings and desert trips. The Ministry stated that overgrazing during winter is one of the main practices harming vegetation cover and increasing desertification, and noted that fines for overgrazing in protected or non-designated grazing areas reach SAR 200 per head of camels and cattle, and SAR 100 per head of livestock.
