"Environment" Executes 6,281 Inspection Rounds on Public Benefit Markets and Slaughterhouses to Ensure Operational Readiness and Product Availability During the Blessed Month of Ramadan

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture launched a comprehensive inspection campaign titled "Readiness of Markets and Slaughterhouses for the Ramadan 1447 AH Season" across its branches nationwide to ensure operational readiness and food safety. The campaign's teams conducted 6,281 inspection rounds on markets with the participation of 428 inspection officers, recording 1,475 violations and warnings, and destroyed 19,936 kg of vegetables, fruits and dates, 1,605 kg of meat and poultry, and 727 kg of fish. At slaughterhouses, total slaughtered animals reached 111,322 head of sheep, cattle and camels, with 970 full condemnations and 10,041 partial condemnations recorded, while pesticide-residue testing covered 658 compliant samples against 5 non-compliant samples; 23 food-preservation charities participated, benefiting from 16,189 kg of usable surplus quantities.
