The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has launched the "Sweet in Its Season" campaign to raise public awareness of the Kingdom's diverse seasonal fruits, promote consumption of locally produced agricultural goods, and improve the marketing efficiency of domestically grown fruit during peak seasons in support of local farmers and producers. The Ministry's official spokesperson, Saleh Abdul-Mohsen bin Dkhayyal, stated that the campaign aims to encourage self-sufficiency and strengthen food security in line with Saudi Vision 2030. He noted that annual agricultural output has surpassed 16 million tons and the sector's contribution to GDP has exceeded 124 billion riyals, with self-sufficiency rates improving for fruits including dates, figs, melons, watermelons, grapes, mangoes, pomegranates, and citrus.
