Deputy Minister of Environment Chairs Coordination Meeting to Enhance Sustainability of Food Production and Strengthen Supply Chains

The Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, chaired a joint coordination meeting with entities related to agricultural production and supply chains to support best agricultural practices, food supply chain sustainability, and raising self-sufficiency rates for local agricultural products. Participants included heads of specialized committees of the Federation of Saudi Chambers (agriculture, food security, poultry producers, dairy producers, and feed) and supporting bodies including the General Authority for Food Security, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the National Center for Industrial Development, the National Agricultural Development Company, and the Waqaa Center. The meeting noted that the agricultural sector's contribution to GDP rose to SAR 114 billion by the end of 2024, with several agricultural products and crops exceeding 100% self-sufficiency.
