The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture signed a contract for a feasibility study project on strategic aquifer storage efficiency in a valley in the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region, aimed at strengthening water security and ensuring sustainable water supplies during emergencies and rising demand. Deputy Minister for Water Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani said the project falls under initiatives of the National Water Strategy (2030) and involves detailed studies and engineering designs for the aquifer storage system, including site selection for injection and extraction, geological and hydrogeological studies, water quality monitoring, and related infrastructure development.
