Saudi Arabia affirmed its continued support for international initiatives combating land degradation and drought and enhancing environmental sustainability, during its participation in the G20 ministerial meeting on environment and climate change held October 16-17 in Cape Town, South Africa. The Kingdom's delegation was led by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture's Deputy Minister for Environment, Dr. Osama Faqeeha, who highlighted Saudi initiatives including the Saudi Green Initiative, the Middle East Green Initiative, and hosting COP16 of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification in Riyadh in late 2024, which produced the Riyadh Declaration and more than 35 international resolutions.
