The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture reviewed the evolution of the Kingdom's water sector from scarcity to sustainability, from early 20th-century institutional beginnings through desalination and the National Water Strategy 2030. This came during the ministry's participation in the Diriyah International Forum 2025, held December 10-11, where Deputy Minister for Water Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Shaibani discussed the cultural and developmental dimensions of water. He noted the Global Water Organization, headquartered in Riyadh, had its charter signed by founding states in May 2025. Water supply in 2025 reached over 16 million cubic meters daily.
