UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Water, Retno Marsudi, said the first Saudi Water Week's focus on innovation and digital transformation reflects an urgent need to harness modern technology to improve water management, increase efficiency, and strengthen resilience, speaking at the opening of the first Saudi Water Week 2026. She said the event offers a strategic platform to help translate international commitments into implementation and build momentum toward the UN Water Conference in 2026, noting a path extending from Bali 2024 to the 2026 UN Water Conference, then Riyadh 2027, to the 2028 UN Water Conference.
