The Kingdom Signs an International Cooperation Agreement to Enhance Sustainability and Innovation in the Agricultural Sector

The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Engineer Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, signed a cooperation agreement with the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) to enhance sustainability and innovation in Saudi Arabia's agricultural sector and support food security and environmental sustainability goals. The agreement, funded by the Ministry at USD 5 million, covers technical support, institutional and human capacity building in agricultural and food innovation, and environmental sustainability. Cooperation areas include contributing to national agricultural innovation initiatives, publishing scientific studies on sustainable water management, developing a technology roadmap for crop improvement, identifying digital tools to enhance irrigation efficiency, and strengthening the Saudi Plant Genetic Bank. The agreement also provides for international experts and advisors to work within the Kingdom to transfer global knowledge in agricultural innovation, food security, and sustainable agriculture, in support of Saudi Vision 2030 targets.
