The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Emphasizes Protection of Green Areas in the Kingdom and Prevention of Random Crossing of Wild and Protected Areas During Winter Hiking Season

"البيئة" تشدد على حماية الرقعة الخضراء بالمملكة ومنع العبور العشوائي للمناطق البرية والمحمية أثناء التنزه في موسم الشتاء

No action neededAwareness

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has urged the public to avoid random vehicle crossings over vegetation during winter hiking, identifying this as a leading cause of degradation in wild areas. The Ministry's awareness campaign, launched under the slogan "Shitana Sah" in its second edition, aims to promote positive environmental behaviour, protect plant cover, and combat desertification. The Ministry warned that such practices disrupt natural plant growth cycles, increase desertification and drought risks, and reduce biodiversity in environmentally sensitive areas. Penalties for unauthorized vehicle entry into protected wild areas reach 2,000 Saudi riyals per vehicle, motorcycle, or truck.
