More than 1.3 million fruit-bearing pomegranate trees in the Kingdom produce over 39,700 tons annually, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture said as part of its 'Halwa be Mawsimha' seasonal-fruit awareness campaign. Cultivation is concentrated in Asir, Makkah, Tabuk, Qassim and Al-Baha, with prominent varieties including Taifi, Hijazi, Wonderful and Ever Sweet, consumed fresh or used in juices, ice cream and sweets. The Ministry said it supports farmers through technical guidance, financing facilitation and modern agricultural technologies, and strengthens supply and marketing chains through seasonal programs and local exhibitions.
