With the Participation of 31 Countries.. The Second Session of the Ministerial Council of the Green Middle East Initiative Kicks Off in Jeddah Next Thursday

The second session of the Ministerial Council of the Green Middle East Initiative is set to open in Jeddah, chaired by Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, with 31 regional member countries from Asia and Africa plus the United Kingdom participating as an observer. The initiative targets planting 50 billion trees, rehabilitating 200 million hectares of degraded land, and cutting regional carbon dioxide emissions by 670 tons. Saudi Arabia launched the initiative at its first summit in Riyadh in October 2021 and, at the second summit in Sharm El-Sheikh in November 2022, announced a financial grant and hosting of its General Secretariat in Riyadh.
