In a press release, the Madinah Region Development Authority describes Madinah's development approach under Saudi Vision 2030 as combining religious heritage preservation with modern urban competitiveness. It cites more than three thousand documented sites in the urban heritage register and highlights projects including the Quba Mosque expansion, rehabilitation of wells, farms and mosques linked to the Prophet's biography, development of the Badr, Uhud and Khandaq sites, and the "Hijrah Path" project. The release also notes Madinah's advancement in the IMD Smart City Index and growth in visitor numbers and average length of stay.
