MCIT Hosts Workshop to Explore Opportunities for Launching Domain Names

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the Digital Government Authority (DGA), and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), organized a workshop titled "New Generic Top-Level Domains (New gTLDs)" with more than 150 experts from government and the private sector. The workshop prepared for the upcoming ICANN-supervised New gTLD Program (Next Round), scheduled to launch in April 2026, covering application, evaluation, verification, and transition-to-operation stages, plus available support programs and associated risks.
