The Insurance Authority announced that it detected more than 2,000 violations in the insurance sector during 2025, involving breaches of supervisory and regulatory instructions, cybersecurity requirements, customer protection rules, and anti-money laundering and terrorism financing requirements by a number of companies and senior executives. The violations resulted in several decisions, most notably the imposition of financial penalties totalling approximately SAR 25 million, the suspension of one insurer from selling compulsory motor insurance, and the suspension of another from issuing or renewing compulsory health, motor, and domestic labour insurance policies. Additional measures included suspending an insurance brokerage from operating, barring a number of insurance company board members, appointing external advisors to rectify certain companies' situations, and issuing seven decisions—upheld by the insurance disputes and violations committees—to cancel the licences of a number of ancillary insurance service providers.
