The General Authority for Audiovisual Media apprehended an Arab female visitor for practicing advertising in Saudi Arabia without a license, issuing a circular to suspend her from all advertising activity in the Kingdom and fining her 400,000 riyals. She was found to have violated the Audiovisual Media Regulation, the E-Commerce Regulation, and the Anti-Smoking Regulation by publishing advertising content on her social media accounts promoting tobacco and smoking products, which regulations expressly prohibit from being marketed or advertised directly or indirectly. The Ministry of Commerce also apprehended the establishment that was advertised for and imposed statutory penalties on it, while the violation was referred to the E-Commerce Regulation penalties committee for further sanctions against both the visitor and the establishment.
