Conclusion of the Kingdom's Hosting of the 12th Meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts on the Management of Geospatial Information

The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information (GEOSA) concluded the Kingdom's hosting in Jeddah of the 12th meeting of the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts on the Management of Geospatial Information, held 3-6 February with 47 participants from UN member states and international organizations. The meeting reviewed the Arab Committee's 2024 annual report, discussed Riyadh's hosting of the UN Global Centre of Excellence within the future geospatial information framework, and held the 5th meeting of the High-Level Group on the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework for the first time in the Arab region. Key outcomes included encouraging Arab member states to sign the multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMOU) with the UN Global Geodetic Centre of Excellence, approving the integrated geospatial framework's executive plan, and approving Eng. Abdullah Dhaib Al-Qahtani of Saudi Arabia as deputy chair of the Geodetic Framework working group for 2025-2028.
