"Geospatial" Wins the Award of the World's First Organization in the Geospatial Field

The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information won the Global Geospatial Leadership Award granted by Geospatial World, a non-profit organisation founded in 1996 that has presented its Geospatial World Leadership Awards since 2007, with winners selected by a panel of international experts. The award, decided by unanimous jury vote, was announced at the Geospatial World Forum 2025 held in Madrid, Spain, from 22 to 25 April. The selection recognised Saudi Arabia's leadership in building national geospatial infrastructure, data governance, capacity development, and integration of geospatial information with modern technologies, as well as the Authority's presidencies and memberships in several international geospatial committees and organisations. The source also notes that the United Nations has granted final approval for Saudi Arabia to host a UN Centre of Excellence for the future geospatial ecosystem, with Riyadh designated as the centre's headquarters.
