The Kingdom Hosts the Third Meeting of the United Nations Team on Policies and Legal Frameworks for Geospatial Information Management

Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, hosted the third meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Policies and Legal Frameworks for Geospatial Information Management in Riyadh, a three-day gathering. The working group, which stems from the UN Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), has 20 member countries and is responsible for raising legal geospatial awareness, developing policies and legal frameworks, and establishing guiding principles for geospatial governance. The Authority's President, Dr. Eng. Mohammed bin Yahya Al Sayel, noted that the Kingdom chairs and holds the secretariat of the Arab Committee of UN-GGIM, and that Saudi Arabia had also hosted the fifth meeting of the High-Level Group on the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework and the twelfth meeting of the Arab Committee in February of this year.
