GASTAT launches Data Innovation Hackathon

The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has launched the Data Innovation Hackathon, a first-of-its-kind initiative held as part of the "Road to Riyadh" series in preparation for Saudi Arabia's hosting of the Sixth United Nations World Data Forum in November 2026. The hackathon is open to citizens and residents including students, academics, freelancers, and employees, and will be delivered virtually with total cash prizes of SAR 75,000. It focuses on two tracks: innovative data collection using non-traditional sources, and smart processing and classification powered by artificial intelligence. GASTAT also announced, in collaboration with the United Nations, that registration has opened for the Sixth UNWDF, scheduled in Riyadh from 9 to 12 November 2026, alongside the Second Saudi Statistics Forum.
