The Aviation Program Activation Steering Committee reviewed the aviation sector’s performance and key air traffic indicators for the first half of 2026, assessed progress toward the program’s targets, and discussed measures to accelerate the delivery of its initiatives during its 21st meeting. The meeting was chaired by GACA President and Committee Chairman Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, with the participation of senior officials, chief executive officers, and representatives of entities and companies operating across the aviation sector. Discussions focused on key achievements, the performance of Aviation Program initiatives, and progress across projects supporting the sector’s targets. The committee also examined implementation challenges and the measures required to address them within the approved timelines. The committee highlighted several achievements recorded during the first half of 2026, including the renewal of Saudi Arabia’s membership in the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization for the 2026–2028 term and the issuance of new licenses and permits in general aviation and logistics services. It also reviewed advances in digital transformation and passenger experience, as well as progress in airport infrastructure development, capacity expansion, and operational efficiency. The meeting underscored the sector’s continued commitment to achieving the objectives of the Aviation Program, a key component of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy. The program aims to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s position as a global hub for air transport, air cargo, tourism, and logistics while driving the aviation sector’s growth and competitiveness. Its priorities include expanding airport capacity, improving the passenger experience, strengthening the competitiveness of national carriers, broadening air connectivity, developing infrastructure and services, and enabling greater private-sector participation. The meeting also witnessed the issuance of an economic license to SAL Saudi Logistics Services Company to provide air cargo handling services at AlUla International Airport. Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) received Level 2 accreditation under the global CANSO GreenATM Accreditation Programme. In addition, Cluster2 Airports Company signed a memorandum of understanding with Prince Sultan Aviation Academy, while SANS signed two memoranda of understanding with EUROCONTROL and DFS Aviation Services. The committee’s 21st meeting formed part of its regular oversight of Aviation Program implementation and efforts to strengthen coordination across the aviation ecosystem, supporting the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for aviation and air transport.
