The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has granted U.S.-based Delta Air Lines a Foreign Air Operator Permit under Part 129 of the Implementing Regulations for Aviation Safety, paving the way for the airline to launch scheduled nonstop services between Atlanta and Riyadh. GACA’s Executive Vice President for Aviation Safety and Environmental Sustainability, Capt. Sulaiman bin Saleh Al-Muhaimidi, presented the permit to a representative of Delta Air Lines at GACA’s headquarters in Riyadh. Delta Air Lines is scheduled to operate three weekly flights between Atlanta and Riyadh, strengthening direct air connectivity between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States, expanding access to the Kingdom, and supporting tourism and business travel between the two countries. The issuance of the permit forms part of GACA’s efforts to strengthen the Kingdom’s international air connectivity and enable leading global airlines to enter the Saudi market, contributing to greater competitiveness across the aviation sector, expanding the Kingdom’s connectivity with international markets and destinations, and supporting tourism, business, and investment, in line with the objectives of the Saudi Aviation Programme and Saudi Vision 2030.
