The Digital Government Authority (DGA) announced it has held discussions with the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN-DESA) to establish a UN-affiliated digital government center headquartered in Riyadh, aimed at enhancing international cooperation, exchanging expertise, and developing best practices. A letter of intent was signed between DGA and the United Nations on the sidelines of the Science, Technology and Innovation Forum on Wednesday, May 06, 2026, in New York. DGA Governor Ahmed bin Mohammed Alsuwaiyan said the choice of Riyadh reflects Saudi Arabia's leadership role, while the UN-DESA Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination said the center builds on ongoing Saudi-UN cooperation and will help member states develop digital strategies supporting the Sustainable Development Goals.
