Ministry of Municipalities and Housing Issues the Guide on Seizure and Retention of Materials and Tools

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has approved the Guide on Seizure and Retention of Materials and Tools, establishing a unified regulatory reference applicable across all municipalities and secretariats. The guide regulates procedures for seizing non-compliant materials and tools, specifying their transfer and storage in designated sites meeting technical requirements, with transportation and custody costs borne by the violator. It also covers destruction of unsafe materials under specialist technical committees, retrieval procedures following payment of fines, public auction of unclaimed seized items, and a maximum precautionary closure period of three consecutive days that may not be extended. Perishable materials must be transferred to the competent authority within 24 hours of seizure, with inspection periods not exceeding three days.
