Ministry of Municipalities and Housing Updates the Requirements for Professional Workshops

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has updated the municipal requirements for professional workshop activities, limiting their application to repair and maintenance services only, excluding the sale and marketing of goods. The updated requirements cover spatial conditions (location, facades, and general appearance), structural elements (flooring, interior walls, ceilings, stairs, external pavements, and disability ramps), as well as ventilation, air conditioning, lighting, and electrical installations. Fire protection obligations align with the Saudi Fire Protection Code, while operational requirements address waste management, site cleanliness, worker conditions, and technical operational standards for electronics maintenance, installations, display units, and interior workshop signage. The Ministry attributed the updates to Saudi Arabia's development trajectory under Vision 2030 and alignment with internationally applied standards.
