The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has approved municipal requirements for Transportation Service Centers as part of its efforts to develop the business environment and regulate the transport and logistics sector. The requirements introduce a comprehensive classification covering freight transport centers, bus transport, sheltering centers for trucks, buses, taxis, and commercially affiliated vehicles, light transport centers, and vehicle damage assessment centers. Spatial minimums are specified — 600 m² for bus sheltering centers, 900 m² for truck sheltering or rental centers, 1,000 m² for taxi or light-transport centers, and between 600 m² and 1,500 m² for vehicle damage assessment centers by category. Operational requirements include electronic payment, waste management, fire protection systems per Saudi Building Code SBC-801, and a cap of 50% of licensed area for ancillary activities, alongside architectural standards for facades, lighting, surveillance cameras, and driver rest facilities.
