انطلاق أولى أعمال المنتدى الإسلامي لجهات اعتماد الحلال "IFHAB"
The first activities of the Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation Bodies "IFHAB" have commenced.
Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), the General Assembly of the Islamic Halal Accreditation Forum (IFHAB) commenced today in Makkah, on 17 Rabi' al-Thani 1445 AH, corresponding to November 1, 2023. The forum, an initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is hosted and funded by the Kingdom. Representatives from 24 national accreditation bodies from OIC member states are in attendance. The inaugural General Assembly session featured a speech by Mr. Ihsan Uft, Secretary General of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), and a welcoming address by His Excellency Dr. Al-Qasabi, who greeted the representatives of the accreditation bodies from member states to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the host of the forum's first meeting, emphasizing its leading role in this field. The meeting was chaired by Engineer Saud bin Rashid Al-Askar, Chairman of the Forum's Establishment Supervisory Committee, with the participation of Engineer Bader bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulatif, representing the Forum's Secretariat. The General Assembly discussed several items on the agenda, appointed members of the Executive Committee, and approved the Forum's provisional bylaws. It is worth mentioning that this meeting is the first of the forum’s activities, as it aims to promote mutual understanding and achieve mutual recognition between accreditation bodies in the field of halal in Islamic countries, and to build bridges of effective communication to support the halal industry at various levels.
