TGA Seizes 1,047 Illegal Transport Vehicles During Hajj Season, Urges Use of Licensed Services
The Transport General Authority (TGA) affirmed the continuation of inspection efforts during the 1447 AH Hajj season to monitor violations in passenger transport activities and enhance compliance. The TGA stated that 1,047 violating vehicles involved in unauthorized passenger transport had been seized in Makkah, the holy sites, entry points, and roads leading to them since the start of the season. The TGA stressed the importance of pilgrims using licensed transport providers due to the reliability and quality of services offered, in addition to clear pricing, multiple payment options, and the protection of beneficiaries’ rights. The TGA also warned that dealing with illegal transport operators exposes passengers to risks associated with the absence of regulatory and safety requirements. Operating passenger transport services without a license is considered a violation subject to penalties, including fines and vehicle impoundment. The TGA urged pilgrims and beneficiaries to use licensed transport services, verify the legality of services before use, and report violators through the unified number 19929 to support safe mobility and improve transport organization during the Hajj season.
